What this is
Epic Companion is an unofficial, fan-made reading companion. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with Steven Erikson, Tor Books, Bantam, or any other author, publisher, or rights holder of the series it covers.
Your account
You’re responsible for the email and password you use to sign up. One account per person. If something looks wrong on your account, email support@epiccompanion.app.
Subscription and billing
The subscription is $7.99 per month, billed via Stripe. You can cancel anytime from your account; access continues through the end of the period you’ve already paid for.
Refunds are handled case-by-case — email us if something’s not right.
How your data is used
We store your email (for sign-in), your reading position, and the questions and answers from your conversations. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card details.
Your questions are sent to Anthropic (for Claude) and OpenAI (for embedding-based search) to generate answers. We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.
You can request deletion of your account and data at any time by emailing support@epiccompanion.app.
What the app does — and doesn’t do
The app answers from a hand-verified fact base, gated by your current chapter. It is designed to avoid spoilers, but answers are generated by an AI model and can occasionally be wrong or incomplete. Use your own judgement.
It does not provide full-text search of the novels and it does not reproduce long passages. If you find a spoiler leak or a factual error, please report it so we can fix it.
Report a spoiler or error
Email support@epiccompanion.app with the book, chapter, question you asked, and what went wrong. Reports get priority.
Acceptable use
Don’t attempt to scrape the app, abuse the rate limits, resell the service, or use it to harass others. We may suspend accounts that do.
Takedown requests
If you represent an author or rights holder and want a series or specific content removed, email support@epiccompanion.app and we’ll respond promptly.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is. We don’t guarantee the service will be error-free or uninterrupted, and we’re not liable for damages arising from use of the service beyond what you’ve paid us in the last month.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
